The Alice Springs Telegraph Station featuring beautifully restored buildings and housing a wonderful interpretive display that traces the early history of Alice Springs. The Telegraph Station is the site of the original Alice Springs waterhole and is a great place to picnic. The Telegraph Station has had a varied history including the first communication link to Central Australia.
The Royal Flying Doctor Service has operated in its present location since 1939 in what is now one of Alice's finest heritage buildings. See how the RFDS provides routine medical services and evacuations to outback isolated areas - towns, communities and homesteads.
The Alice Springs Reptile Centre experience reptiles up close with loads of hands on fun for everyone. You can see lizards feed or play with pythons. See the largest, most extensive display of reptiles in the NT including the huge perentie goannas, frill neck lizards, thorny devils, venomous snakes, large pythons and Terry the salt water crocodile.

Road Transport Hall of Fame Historical display of equipment & people The Road Transport Historical Society is a volunteer based project dedicated to the preservation and presentation of Australia's unique road transport heritage. It does this through its magnificent Shell Rimula Hall of Fame in Alice Springs, the traditional birthplace of the road train. Take a stroll through one of the worlds oldest trains and its carriages at the Old Ghan Train Museum and Heritage Railway. Relive pioneering history and learn a little about the legend that is the Old Ghan. School of the Air is called the biggest classroom in the world - 1.3 million square kilometres - and for children living in isolated areas around the Northern Territory, it is the only classroom they know. The Alice Springs School of the Air was the first of its type, officially opening in 1951, and is a system used only in Australia. Interpretive displays demonstrate the important role it has in the outback, and on school days visitors can hear lessons being broadcast.
Alice Springs Desert Park is a must see for every visitor to Alice, discover many of the secrets of the Central Australian deserts. Hundreds of species of plants and animals found across Central Australian deserts can be seen, smelt and heard. Take an easy walking trail through three desert habitats and discover Desert Rivers, Sand Country and the Woodland habitat, witness free-flying birds of prey in the nature theatre, see rare and endangered animals in the spectacular nocturnal house, hear the insights into the interlinking world of plants, animals and people from our local guides and enjoy a cinematic journey through four-and-a-half billion years of desert evolution.
Olive Pink Botanical Gardens founded in 1956 by the legendary Miss Olive Pink, the garden features a diverse collection of over 250 species of Central Australia plants, excellent bird watching, guided walks, interpretive displays, secluded picnic areas, and a stunning café. The National Pioneer Women's Hall of Fame is one of only about 40 museums worldwide dedicated to women.
